Toomas Vaher is a member of the Restructuring and Insolvency Special Interest Group, as well as a partner at Ellex law firm in Estonia.
Toomas is one of the most highly regarded experts on dispute resolution in Estonia, plus a long-standing board member and the former president of the Estonian Bar Association (2010–2013).
Over the years, Toomas has advised and represented clients in several important bankruptcy and reorganization proceedings.
He has also advised clients in a number of large and complex litigation and arbitration matters, mainly in the field of commercial law. In addition, Toomas acts as an arbitrator, both in domestic as well as in international arbitration proceedings. As a recognised expert and adviser in alternative dispute resolution, he was appointed by Estonia as a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in 2016 and designated as a member of the ICSID Panels in 2017. Since 2013, he has served as an international board member of the Arbitration Institute of the Finland Chamber of Commerce (FAI).
Toomas also serves on several commissions dealing with AML and sanction screening issues and has been involved in the drafting of relevant legal acts as well as regulations of the Bar Association.
