The Association of European Lawyers (‘AEL’) was founded in 1988 with the object of providing readily available expert legal services across Europe. AEL was originally established by the combining of resources of five leading law firms in the UK, following which a non-exclusive network of correspondent firms throughout Europe was developed, offering a broad range of legal services for business, with high standards of care and efficiency.
With 40 member firms, all well known in their respective countries, we can offer legal services in every European commercial and industrial centre. We are continually looking to increase the AEL Network across Europe. Clients increasingly require a consistent and commercial response to legal issues arising across borders, and AEL is designed to provide exactly that. Member firms have been working together for years and building links to make a network which can rival the best.
AEL is managed by its Executive Committee which comprises 10 representatives of some member firms headed by the Secretary General, Risto Vahimets. Collectively they set the standards for membership and carefully review performance of member firms.
