Training Seminar Helsinki 2019 – Tech n Law in HEL

From 23-25 May, we were hosted by our friends at Dittmar & Indrenius (“D&I”) in Helsinki.

Delegates had the choice of staying Hotel Kamp, GLO Hotel Kluvvi or Hotel Lilla Roberts.  All three hotels were of a very high standard and close by to D&I’s centrally located office.

On Thursday 23rd May we were welcomed by Johan Akermarck for welcome drinks at D&I’s impressive office and there followed a short walk to Garden by Olo, a modern Nordic bistro for a fine dinner where delegates could mingle and chat.

The topic for the Training Seminar was Tech n Law and commenced at 9:00am on Friday 24th May with welcomes from our host Jan Ollila and Risto Vahimets, member of the Executive Committee.

We had several speakers through the day alongside panel discussions.  Those presenting were:

  • Jaakko Iloniemi, Former Ambassador to the USA
  • Jarno Limnéll, Professor of Practice, Cyber Security, Aalto University
  • Kai Holkeri, Partner, Head of Tax & Structuring, Dittmar & Indrenius
  • Iiris Kivikari, Senior Attorney, Head of Intellectual Property, Dittmar & Indrenius
  • Gabrielle Dannberg, Senior Attorney, Dittmar & Indrenius
  • Mirva Antila, Country General Manager, IBM Finland
  • Elisa Erkkilä, Vice President Compliance and Risk Management, Metso Corporation
  • Teemu Oksanen, Legal Counsel, Futurice Group

All gave excellent and thought provoking presentations and we thank them for being present and we hope that all delegates found the presentations interesting. Please do send any ideas for future topics of our Training Seminars to Helen Cooper.

That evening, delegates met at D&I’s office for a short walk to the harbour where they were picked up by a boat for the journey to Lonna Island.  Here we ate at Restaurant Lonna with a fine selection of food and wine.  The entertainment was provided at the beginning of dinner by a beatboxer!

The programme on Saturday 25th May included meditative yoga, sauna and swim at the Allas Sea Pool, brunch at the Allas Restaurant and a “Hop On Hop Off” City Tour by bus followed by dinner at restaurant Nude.

From feedback received so far, not only was this a record attended Training Seminar but also an excellent event that was extremely well organised.  We would like to give our utmost thanks to Johan Akermarck, Jan Ollila and all their team that worked so hard.
