Dispute resolution

AEL lawyers are experienced in helping to resolve disputes in a timely and cost-effective manner. With experience of handling large and complex cases, AEL lawyers can evaluate the merits of a case and provide straight forward advice, considering both the legal and business factors. AEL lawyers have represented both claimants and respondents at all tiers of the judicial system and so are skilled at upholding the clients’ best interests in court proceedings.

However AEL lawyers recognise that the many clients would like to avoid court, so alternative forms of dispute resolution are utilised to help clients achieve an out-of-court settlement. These include arbitration, where an arbitrator appointed by the parties makes a binding decision. Arbitration allows for a pragmatic review by someone selected with the relevant expertise and often provides for a faster resolution than court proceedings. In addition, the process is private allowing parties to avoid unwanted publicity. Mediation can also be used, where a third party helps the parties to work towards a negotiated settlement.
